Stanza 20

Now all the villagers excitedly
Are eager to assist with what would be
A project far beyond their simple life.
They all remember how the civil strife
Within their country earlier that year
Had culminated in their greatest fear,
When evil men explosive charges placed
Within the holy mosque and then defaced
The shrine of God's vice-regents on the earth
By detonating them. The golden dome was worth
Far more than what the faithful ever paid
To gild the roof, and none of them would trade
The holy shrine for twenty thousand times
That fortune. As the awful men whose crimes
Had caused such grief had never been detained
To answer for the damage which profaned
The Askari, the people long so much
To have the golden dome restored to such
A glorious state as had been known before,
That now the contributions from them pour.
