Stanza 11

Though Musa feels this joy he can't explain
He still continues in the former vein
Fulfilling his responsibility
To offer guests the hospitality
That forms the basis of the family pride.
Then mindful that the smiling guests divide
A pittance that is insufficient fare,
Informs each relative, "We must take care
To keep our house from suffering disgrace
By not securing in the marketplace
A haunch of lamb to serve the visitors."
Each man contributes from his private stores
As he is able, and though each adult
Finds parting with his dinars difficult,
He rather values generosity
Than hoarded wealth and great prosperity.
So Musa soon acquires the needed cash
And adds it to the money in his stash.
Then taking both the cup and pitcher too
Returns to tell his mother what to do.
